World Record Attempt at the Danube Tower
On Monday, June 10th, the ultrarunner Rainer Predl from Lassee will take on an extraordinary challenge. His goal: to set a new world record in the 100-kilometer circuit run in the Indoor Terrace of the Vienna Danube Tower.
One lap in the Indoor Terrace at 155m is just under 40 meters, and Predl will run this lap repeatedly until he reaches 100 kilometers.
Event Schedule
The run begins at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Danube Tower. From there, Rainer Predl will first climb the 779 steps of the tower. Once he reaches the the Indoor Terrace at a height of 155meters, the official timing for the 100-kilometer circuit run will begin.
The current world record is held by a German who completed the 100 kilometers on the Stuttgart TV tower in 12 hours and 45 minutes. This Austrian challenge is being overseen by the Record Institute for Germany & Austria.
Call for Support and Donation Campaign
Fans and spectators are warmly invited to watch this spectacular world record attempt live on site. For this event, the Indoor Terrace will suspend its normal operations to provide the necessary space for the sporting event.
In addition to the sporting ambition, the focus is also on a good cause. Viewers and supporters are encouraged to donate 1 Euro for each lap completed. Up to 2,500 laps are expected, which could result in a possible donation sum of up to 2,500 Euros. The proceeds will go to the Sterntalerhof, which cares for seriously ill children and their families. Every lap counts – you can decide how many laps you would like to support.
