Donauturm Temporarily Closed
September 16, 2024. Vienna’s Donauturm has been closed since the afternoon of September 15, 2024. Continuous heavy rainfall that hit Vienna over the weekend caused water ingress in some areas of the upper floors of this iconic landmark
At no point did this unusual event affect the structural integrity of the building. The temporary closure is a precautionary measure to ensure the quality of the visitor experience and regular working conditions for the staff. Efforts are currently underway to reopen the Donauturm to the public by Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the latest.
The Donauturm, in which Wien Holding is also involved, has been temporarily closed since Sunday, September 15, 2024, due to water ingress in certain areas. Although the building's technology or structural stability was never compromised, operations were suspended as a precaution to ensure a safe visitor experience and appropriate working conditions for staff.
Specialists are working intensively to implement drying measures as quickly as possible in the affected areas of the upper floors, which include the indoor and outdoor terraces, the Tower Restaurant, and the Tower Café. The goal is to resume regular operations by Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Up-to-date information will be continuously provided on the Donauturm website:
