The Danube Tower Lights Up in Blue on World Fragile X Day

On July 22, 2024, the Danube Tower illuminated in blue to support the FRAXA Research Foundation and celebrate World Fragile X Day.

This nonprofit organization is dedicated to researching and developing treatments, and ultimately a cure, for Fragile X syndrome (FXS) on a global scale.

Fragile X syndrome is the most common inherited cause of autism and intellectual disabilities, affecting approximately 1 in 4,000 boys and 1 in 8,000 girls worldwide. It is caused by a change in a single gene that is crucial for normal brain function.

FRAXA not only funds research but also supports affected families and raises awareness about this relatively unknown condition. Thanks to the participation and support of the Danube Tower in previous World Fragile X Day events, significant awareness has already been raised.

This year, Fragile X organizations worldwide once again worked to illuminate prominent structures and landmarks in blue on July 22 to raise awareness for Fragile X syndrome. The Danube Tower was part of this important initiative once again, serving as a beacon of hope and support.

World Fragile X Day is an opportunity to recognize the advancements in Fragile X syndrome research and to raise awareness of the condition. Through this initiative, we aim to highlight the challenges faced by those with Fragile X and their families.
